The Year of the Priest....Pope
Benedict XVI has proclaimed that a special year for priests will
begin on June 19, 2009, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the
death of St. Jean Marie Vianney who will be proclaimed patron saint
of all priests of the world. The Congregation for Clergy
indicates the year will stress the essential aspects of the life and
mission of priests in our times and " will be a year of
prayer by priests, with priests and for priests...". The
"Year of the Priest" will close with a World Meeting of
Priests on June 19, 2010.
