This is our Faith! The Church liturgy has now completed its intense celebration of the Paschal Mystery: of Jesus' death and resurrection, Pentecost and the Ascension of Jesus. The significance of Pentecost is re-emphasized on June 7 with the solemn Feast of the Trinity expressing our faith in a Trinitarian God who is creator, redeemer and who sanctifies all of human kind. June 14 punctuates the ending of the Easter season with the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ that reminds us that the Paschal Mystery is always present and joyfully celebrated in every Sabbath celebration of the Eucharist. This is a timely message as we are about to begin the joyful relaxing days of summer. On June 21 we swing back into Ordinary Time and will hear and reflect on the stories of the life and teachings of Jesus as related this year in the Gospel of Mark. With children's catechesis and much of the formal business of the parish suspended for these summer months, it seems the right time to participate in the Sunday liturgy and Eucharist just because we want to. What a great reason to be there. With Saturday evening, Sunday morning and Sunday evening Masses in our Diocese, every opportunity is available for attendance at Mass every weekend. Mass times in the different parishes are provided on the diocesan web site to accommodate all who travel on this gentle Island. Have a peaceful and safe summer!
