Communications Committee

Our Mandate:

The Diocesan Communications Committee was established in 1996 as a result of recommendation #5 of the Implementation Report. This recommendation called for "creatively designed opportunities to listen to people and groups and allow them to know they have been heard". It was recommended that use be made of the media, computers, print and video options.

How is that mandate being fulfilled?

"Island Wide Dialogue", our diocesan newsletter, is published 6 times a year and distributed in all Catholic churches in our diocese. Its first issue was in April, 1998. It contains the Bishop's message, parish profiles, youth news, upcoming diocesan events, committee reports and other submitted articles. This web-site is our most recent communications venture.

What do we hope to accomplish with the web-site?

Through this technology we are able to provide information on diocesan activities, policies, commissions, structures, programs and events. Through the internet you will be able to access information quickly and easily, including contacts for areas within our diocese which are of interest to you. We hope this form of communication will also help build community by offering a source of spiritual inspiration where people may come to find more meaning in their lives. Evangelization through the internet is a sign of the times.

We are always open to comments, suggestions and/or reflections which you may wish to share with us. Our mandate is to ensure an open dialogue happening within our church community.

Committee members:

  1. Joanne Perry, Summerside

  2. Almeda Thibodeau, O'Leary

  3. Sister Bernadette Gallant, North Rustico

  4. Mary MacLean (Editor)
